On The Move, Wales, Peacocks & ‘Posh’ Food!

Well, we’re busy packing up to move out so we can let the builders in.

We’ve sorted a rental property, which, let’s just say is going to be ‘cosy’ in terms of the size. What’s surprised us is that many landlords are not prepared to consider a let for less than 6 months, even where their properties have been empty for months!

Very strange.

Our extension should take 4-5 months so it’s quite exciting that we’ll be coming back to what will probably look like a new house :-)

My parents are also on the move as they have sold the family home and are downsizing to an apartment. It looks quite spacious so let’s hope they settle in.

On the work front, Graeme and I have just returned from delivering 3 courses in North Wales in Bangor and Rhyl for the Post Grad Deanery.

Each one was 3 hours and we covered many topics, with retirement planning being the main theme. I have definitely noticed that dentists are really taking retirement planning seriously, with some feeling disillusioned with the creep of new regulations that are keeping them from performing what they do love to do, the actual clinical work.

We stayed at The Castle in Conwy on the first night. Apparently there’s 2 ghosts that keep guests entertained, although it must have been their night off as we didn’t get to meet them.

The hotel is an old coaching inn and stands on the site of a Cistercian abbey and used to consist of two famous hostelries, The Castle and the 15th Century King’s Head.

It has recently been through an extensive upgrade and I thoroughly recommend a visit.

And make sure you eat in the hotel as the menu was fantastic. I had ‘posh fish n chips’, so posh that I felt compelled to take a photograph!

We then moved onto Rhyl where we stayed at The Faenol Fawr Hotel.

The hotel has a very grand feel to it when you arrive. Again, the food was great and we also made use of the swimming pool.

Graeme was also very proud that he’d made a new ‘friend’ who was sat just outside his window :-)
