A lot has been going on since I last wrote to you.
The main issue of course being that we now have a new Government.
For me, the best part of the General Election was that myself and the family flew to Spain on the morning after.
It was great to miss all the media frenzy, especially all the ‘what if’ scenarios spouted by so many journalists.
Very dull indeed.
That’s not to say I’m not interested, it’s just that I’d rather spend my time doing something far more interesting until the dust has settled.
We went to a place called Moraira in Spain, about an hours drive up from Alicante airport. It was the first time we’d flown with our little one (5 months) so we were a little nervous how it would all pan out.
We needn’t have worried!
She was ‘chatting’ away to everyone on the ‘plane and took it all in her stride
Moraira is well worth a visit.
We discovered that 56% of the population is ex-pats; British, German and Dutch making up the majority.
The prices are pretty much the same as in the UK, with an ample selection of great restaurants and a fair smattering of yachts and boats.
Not exactly Monaco, that has yachts that look more like cruise ships, but very nice all the same!
One evening did cost me a few euros more than the meal tab. When parking up on arrival at the Japanese restaurant I managed to reverse into a parked Jeep.
Bang!!
Nobody was injured, and whilst I was writing a note to the owner, they appeared from a different restaurant.
A German couple, he proceeded to vent a bit in his native tongue, whilst Mrs was concentrating on calming him down.
Oops.
At least their dog was ok – they opened the boot whilst we were exchanging details and out he jumped!
And before you ask, no, I hadn’t taken the extra insurance when I picked up the car, so potentially I was looking at €300 disappearing from my bank account.
As it turned out, I was charged €83 for the damage, so I can’t complain, although next time I hire a car I’ll definitely include the extra insurance…
If you want to know the details of the Villa we rented, get in touch and I’ll email you the details.
