NigelManleyPhoto.jpgI heard about Rutherford Wilkinson and I had decided to look for a new financial adviser so the name of Rutherford Wilkinson and Ray Prince were names that I realised I had been aware of for some time. I certainly remember reading articles written by them in various dental publications and I think I had seen him at a Post Grad meeting and I then looked at their website and listened to some of the testimonials like this one. 

I had previously had a financial adviser with a fairly well known large company and while they had made some efforts to understand my circumstances and what I required I sort of got the impression I was one of many clients of theirs and felt I wasn’t really getting the personal attention I required. There was also a turnover in the advisers I saw and on occasions I was having to chase them up to return some of my calls. I suppose the other main reason is that Rutherford Wilkinson, their adviser Ray is paid for his advice not by commission but by a fee so this means really they are not under the pressure to sell me policies if I don’t really need them and maybe true or falsely with other advisers on commission you get the sort of impression that am I getting the policies I actually need or is it really because its been a good commission to the adviser.

Before speaking to Ray Prince I suppose my finances could best be described as an uncoordinated collection of policies of one sort or another. Speaking to other colleagues of mine I realised I am not alone in this and basically having amassed all sorts of ISAs, PEPs, endowments and whatever insurances and pensions over a period of years I’d no real idea how appropriate they were for me now and also for the future and of course particularly in retirement.

Working with Ray at Rutherford Wilkinson has been, and is, a real positive experience, he is extremely knowledgeable, professional, takes as long as necessary to explain things until you are completely happy and is available at any time to speak to over the phone for any queries, I suppose it also helps that he’s a really nice bloke.

The main benefit of working with Rutherford Wilkinson is really the highly personal service. Ray spent a great deal of time to get to know me and my current situation and aspirations and in a very short period of time I was able to get a really good clear idea of where I was financially at that time and more importantly I have now got a real confidence of how my future finances right into retirement will stack up.

I recommend that all Dentists and Doctors really take a sort of holistic view of their finances, having sort of various investments and policies here and there like I did, is not really the same as having the right personally entailed package to suit your own circumstances so if you think this approach is for you then talk to Rutherford Wilkinson. 

If you are still a little unsure about dealing with Rutherford Wilkinson then just give them a ring and speak to them. You won’t get the hard sell, just someone who will listen to you and give really good advice and all I can say is that I’ve been very happy with them.
