Q. Should I buy my products direct from the providers?
A. If you choose to go direct to the provider, you will not save any money. The financial provider simply keeps any commission for themselves and the cost of the product is exactly the same as dealing through an adviser. In addition, going direct to the provider means you are taking full responsibility for your decisions, meaning that you will not have any redress or claim for compensation at any time.
When you deal through an adviser, you have an extra layer of protection as the advising company takes liability for the advice that you’re given.
You also receive the advice and recommendations in writing, and the advising company has to retain full research on file to prove that what you’ve been recommended is the most appropriate.
