Who We Serve

The clients we work with tend to be practicing or retired doctors and dentists based in the UK. They are usually established in their careers and are working in the NHS, private practice or a mixture of both. Their backgrounds and disciplines are wide and varied, from Consultant Anaesthetists, to General Practitioners and Dental Principals. They have accumulated a number of financial policies over the years and have assets such as property, bonds, pensions and equities.

If you possess some (or all) of the following attributes, you are likely to receive the greatest value from our professional services:

  • You have investable assets (including pension funds) of at least £100,000
  • You earn at least £75,000 pa
  • You are 35 to 65 years old
  • You are prepared to seek professional advice and you are able to make decisions
  • You are serious about making smart choices with your money
  • You have important financial goals that you need to achieve
  • Your attitude towards investment risk is neither extremely cautious or extremely adventurous
  • You have at least a basic understanding of personal finance but appreciate the value of good advice
  • You are nice to work with, have a good sense of humour and are polite (because we are – always!)

Of course, this is not a definitive list, but when speaking with prospective clients we find that this tends to be the best description of the individuals we can help the most.

We will tell you if we feel that it is unlikely that you will benefit from our services. We appreciate that not everyone will do so. As we can only provide this service to a limited number of clients, we do want to be sure that you get your moneys-worth and that you are willing to embrace the concept of an ongoing comprehensive planning service.

We do spend a significant amount of time with prospective clients to ensure we are right for each other. If on meeting you we feel that there are reasons why a complete planning service would not improve your financial planning, we will tell you so and the reason why.

If you are at an earlier stage of your career and are looking to establish a foundation to your financial planning, the Product Research service may be the best option.

Are you uncertain where to start?

If you can relate to some of the issues below we may be a suitable match for the type of Financial Planner that you’re looking for:

  • You’ve collected a number of policies over the years, but are not sure if you have the right ones and don’t really know how you will benefit from them now and in the future.
  • You seem to have enough income but are spending most of it. How can you track where all your money is going so that you can make savings where possible and free up spare cash for the future?
  • You’re not sure if your financial adviser is impartial. You’ve dealt with the same company / adviser for a number of years now, but it’s reached a point where you’re not sure if being sold new policies is always the answer to help you achieve your financial goals.
  • You want to retire early but are unsure if you’ll be able to. You’re not really aware of how much money you’ll need in retirement and don’t know how to forecast it.
  • You’re not sure if you’re investing enough towards your future. You’ve got a number of investments but are not certain if you’re investing too much / too little.
  • You don’t know if your family and loved ones will be looked after financially if you die prematurely. You don’t know how much money they’ll actually need if you pass away. You’re aware of life assurance but are not sure how much cover you might need.
  • You only want to take the right amount of risk that you’re comfortable with. You’re not sure if your current investments are too safe or too risky.
  • You’ve got an endowment policy (or more than one) and don’t know if you should keep it. You’ve received a projection letter from your endowment company and it’s showing a shortfall, best case scenario. Should you keep investing into this plan or should you cash it in and invest elsewhere or use it for other purposes (such as debt repayment)?
  • You’re finding it difficult to keep track of all your investments. How can you reduce the amount of paperwork you receive and streamline the management of your investments?

In addition to the first list above, our clients typically share many of the following characteristics. If they fit you well, the chances are that we may be able to help you improve many aspects of your financial planning.

You recognize the value of receiving professional financial advice. You are open to receiving good advice and following the plan that is custom designed for you and your family based on your individual needs and concerns.

You are willing to share your financial concerns/objectives and fully disclose your financial information. You want to have a comprehensive financial plan constructed to help you gain a sense of control over your finances and strengthen your financial future.

You want to build wealth on a consistent basis by following a disciplined approach to investing. You understand that investing is not speculating and you keep faith that your financial assets will grow in the long run as long as you follow a disciplined approach to wealth building, despite the frequent fluctuations in the financial markets.

You are open to change. You know that the methods that have worked for you in the past may not help you achieve your financial goals in the future. You realise that if you want different results you may need to try new approaches.

You are action oriented and committed to getting things done. You know that creating a sound financial plan for your future will take a certain amount of commitment on your part and are prepared to commit the time and resources to achieve the results you want.

You adhere to the highest standards of integrity. You know that if you want to take shortcuts, we’re not the type of company that can help you. If you do want to approach your financial planning at the highest level, we’d like to help you succeed.

You understand that an impartial financial planning service is worth paying for. You know that getting advice that is totally impartial, without bias, can only be achieved by paying a fee for that service.

You like to work collaboratively and in partnership. You don’t want to feel like you’re being ‘sold to’ and want to work alongside someone who will help you develop a strategy for the rest of your life (or whatever period you choose).
