Married in 3 Weeks - Time For The Stag! - Ray Prince

Edinburgh.jpgWhere has the time gone?

It only feels like yesterday that I was popping the question in Dublin. In case you didn't know, she said yes :)

My brother, Phil, was given the task of Best Man, so naturally it was also on his head to organise the customary 'Stag Do'.

Dictionary.com defines 'Stag Party' as:

–noun
1. a social gathering or outing for men only.
2. a party given to a bachelor by his male friends before his
marriage, often on the night before the wedding, ranging from
a formal gathering to a night of carousing.
3. a gathering for men only, esp. one for the purpose of watching
   sexually titillating movies or exhibitions.

Now, I'm not sure about number 3, I think number 2 is the closest! :)

(and I'll leave it to you to Google 'carousing')

With about 10 of my closest friends on the VIP list, the rumours went on for a fair few months about where we'd end up. Some suggestions were to take me abroad and leave me there (thanks!), to others which I can't repeat here.

In the end Edinburgh won the vote and we were on our way last Friday, getting the train up from Newcastle.

The first night was spent catching up with some of the group that I'd not seen for some time. We enjoyed a great curry and then went on for a few more drinks before hitting the sack, in preparation for 'the big one'.

Up for breakfast on Saturday and then we were on our way to our activity. My good friend Andy runs a golf simulation concept near the Haymarket area of Edinburgh. The idea is that you choose a golf course to play, eg Carnoustie, and this is displayed on a projector style screen in front of you. You then have the pleasure of using real clubs and you proceed to actually hit the ball against the screen. The ball then appears on the screen going up the fairway.

Once we got the hang of it, we had a great laugh. 2 1/2 hours flew by, but there was time for me to win the Nearest The Pin competition :)

Check it out here

We then watched the rugby downstairs and got back to the hotel at 6 ish to freshen up.

Then back out to hit the town.

Well, I'm certain one or two reading this will be looking for the 'detail' of the evening. I hate to disappoint, but there wasn't any (cough).

The last 2 standing (me included) made it back to the hotel at about 2am. Not a bad showing we thought.

We were back in Newcastle at 3 on the Sunday. I have to admit I was feeling a bit ropey and took the executive decision to work from home on the Monday AND Tuesday.

A wise decision let me tell you!

So the big day is April 11th. If you have any messages or advice feel free to email me at mailto:ray.prince@rwplc.co.uk

Until next month, best wishes.
