In Dublin's Fair City… - Ray Prince

Dublin.jpgAs existing clients are probably aware, we (meaning Graeme and I) meet up with Financial Planners from 4 other firms on a quarterly basis. This collective is known as the 'Northern Investment Group' and the purpose of it is to share ideas and analyse how we are managing our clients' wealth, in particular their invested funds.

Recent meetings have been taking place in and around North Yorkshire, however one of the group took it upon himself to investigate other options. Therefore, last Thursday we flew out from Leeds Bradford airport to Dublin. We arrived at about 12.30pm at the hotel on Parnell Street and went straight into our meeting.

The hotel staff were really good (which as you'll know always makes the stay that little bit easier) and after a club sandwich lunch we cracked on. The main topic was finalising the make up and components of our new investment portfolios. These are not too different from our existing portfolios, however there have been a few tweaks. Existing clients will be made aware of these when their review is due.

The meeting finished at 5pm and I was in the minority when I decided to take a shower and chill for an hour. Obviously, the rest of the group couldn't wait to go out and made their way to the local next door.

After a few glasses of the black stuff, we made our way to a Lebanese retaurant that had been recommended.  If you've not had Lebanese before, it's a bit like tapas and I highly recommend it. The waiter, Karl, was a bit of a boy and shared some of his exploits of working in Spain.

We then moved onto Temple Bar. The atmosphere was buzzing, although the kitty was taking a bit of a hammering at 6 euros a pint!

The next morning started slowly (no surprise there then!) and after breakfast we were off to the airport to catch our midday flight. I was back home by 5pm and had to pick myself up for the evening as we had friends coming round. I managed to get through it but made the point of only getting out of bed on the Saturday when my body told me it was safe to do so :)

See you next month.
