Critical Illness Claims - Hot Topics Q&A
Q. If I ever need to make a claim on my critical illness what steps do I need to take?
A. The majority of insurance companies have specific telephone numbers for claims. The first step is to call them and they will make a note of the initial details. They will then send you a claim form to complete. Once received you should complete this immediately and send it back to them.
The insurance company will make an initial decision. If unsuccessful they will write to you with the reasons. If they consider it further, they will write to your GP for a report. Once received they will also normally write to your hospital consultant.
Once they have all this information they will make a decision. If successful they will notify you in writing and the claim will be paid, including a refund of any overpaid premiums.
If you've got a question you'd like to ask us just complete the form here and we'll get back to you with an answer (if we publish it we'll keep your name anonymous).
