Stockmarkets Likely to Fall? - Hot Topics Q&A

Q. As a semi retired dentist, I keep reading in the press that after enjoying a run of 5 years growth on the stockmarket, a correction could occur in the next few years that could wipe out much of the gains I have made.

Are these articles just doom mongering or should i take more attention? How do I get impartial advice?

A. What is very true is that the stockmarket, just like many things in life, has its cycles. Recently the trend has been very much on the up, although I dare say people remember the falls of 1987 and 2000.

Some advisers and fund managers try to time these falls and rises in the market, although there is no evidence to suggest they can do so consistently.

In our opinion it is a matter of ensuring you have the right asset mix to suit the levels of risk you wish/need to take that lets you enjoy your life without worrying about it.

We would recommend you find a Fee Based Wealth Manager who will comprehensively review all your investments. They should be able to provide you with a factual summary that will cover all your concerns and worries, and provide a solution that is best for you.
